  • In the afternoon, visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21) that used to be the largest detention and torture center under Pol Pot's regime. The premises reveal a painful chapter of the Cambodian history.

Day 6Discovery of the Bousra waterfalls

  • Discover the city and the surrounding area with a local guide. In the morning, start with a small cascade in the middle of nature. Then, continue with the Bousra waterfalls, the highest and most gorgeous in all Cambodia : flowing down across 3 different levels, the falls offer a breathtaking view and a natural pool for you to enjoy.

    In the afternoon, visit a local indigenous village to observe the traditional lifestyle and exchange with the locals.

    Continue with the visit of the Coffee Plantation Resort to learn more about the production of "black gold", from growing coffee plants to the cropping & torrefaction stages.

    Your guide will then take you to a local pagoda where animists come to pray, and make offerings and sacrifices. On your way, a stop in a particular spot will offer a panoramic view of the beautiful Mondulkiri province.

Day 7Start of the elephant trek

  • In the morning, transfer to the elephant sanctuary where you will have two days to observe and understand the pachyderms’ everyday life and discover the local tribe’s culture and traditions.

    The day will start with the feeding of the elephants that you will observe later in the jungle. Then, you will bathe in a waterfall with them. Also, you will rest and observe the wildlife from the sanctuary’s « Jungle Lodge ».

    You will spend the night in a hammock with a mosquito net in the Mondulkiri Project Lodge.

  • You will hike all day with a guide from the Bunong ethnic group, a unique chance to see wild deers and rare species of monkeys. The hike will lead you to a waterfall where you can swim and to the Leng Ret cave hosting a bat population. Then, you will visit Bunong farms producing wild rice, fruits, vegetables and herbs.

    On the evening, enjoy a traditional meal with the local tribe where you can taste rice wine around a camp fire at the Jungle Lodge.

  • On the road, discover the silk factory of Pouk and the process of the silk production : from the plantation of the mulberry trees and the farming of the silkworms, to weaving and finished products available for sale.

  • Continue by the visit of the Banon temple on the top of a hill which offers a wonderful view over the Khmer countryside. Through the traditional villages along the road, you can observe the locals cooking rice wrappers and talk with them about their daily life.

  • In the morning, visit the circus school of the association Phare Ponleu Sekpak (PPS), "the Light of Arts" and meet talented young Cambodians (closed on weekends and holidays).

  • Visit one of the last traditional houses of Battambang with a Khmer architecture. Made of wood, it still houses period utensils.

  • Discover the Phnom Sampov temple. Stay there until sunset to watch the flight of the bats an their incredible show in the air.

  • Arrived at Battambang, go for a walk through the many villages around the city. It is the chance to observe the locals producing the typical cambodian prahoc (very odorous fish paste).
