Where to eat vegetarian in Cambodia

Mar 20 2025

Whether for personal conviction, desire, or medical necessity, eating vegetarian in Cambodia is not always simple. Khmer cuisine typically includes fish or meat in most dishes. Here are some of our favorite addresses in Phnom Penh, Kampot, Siem Reap, and Battambang—the most important cities in Cambodia—where you can satisfy your appetite with vegetarian meals.

For those unfamiliar with Cambodia, it can be difficult to find good vegetarian restaurants. To avoid any disappointment, we embarked on a search for the best vegetarian dining options in the country.

Phnom Penh

Vego Salad Bar

Vego specializes in salads, wraps, and bagels in Phnom Penh. A wide range of snacks is offered for about $6. If you wish, you can also create your own salad.

What we love : The carefully designed decor is a highlight.

Backyard Café

Backyard Café offers a variety of healthy foods for around $7. The menu includes pasta, sandwiches, bowls, salads, and house specialties, all served generously.

What we love: The aesthetic and creativity of the dishes, plus 10% of the profits go to the "Good Vibe Foundation," helping students eat healthily.

Siem Reap

The Veg G Table

With quality and quantity in mind, this warm restaurant serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes, including the famous Middle Eastern hummus, all for about $6.

What we love: Special mention for the burger and the friendly owner. Additionally, the restaurant is eco-conscious, using bamboo straws.

Battambang

Around the World

A humble, unassuming restaurant serving simple and delicious vegetarian dishes. The establishment has both an indoor area and a terrace. The indoor seating allows you to eat Khmer-style, sitting on cushions around a low table in a friendly atmosphere.

What we love: A no-frills place with a smile from the family running it.

Address : 121 59 Street No. 2.5 Between 119, Battambang

Other vegetarian options ?

If you're in a hurry or prefer something simpler, many Khmer restaurants offer at least one vegetarian dish. If you're unlucky and can't find any, you can still request fried rice without meat or fish.
