Scooter Tour of Kampong Thom

The Kampong Thom region offers a Cambodian experience that feels worlds apart from the country’s most tourist-heavy urban spots. The locals here are genuinely welcoming, embodying the warm, authentic smile so characteristic of Southeast Asia.

Countryside tours can be physically demanding, so we recommend our travelers split the excursions over two days to allow for moments of rest and relaxation.

Village and Sacred Mountain Tour (3 or 6 hours)

Ride along dusty paths through charming Khmer villages, where residents still live off their own agricultural production. Then, following the national road, you'll reach Phnom Santuk, a pre-Angkorian sacred mountain. It’s a deeply spiritual place that remains purely Khmer—untouched by time. We won’t reveal too much about this off-the-beaten-path experience… it’s up to you to uncover its hidden gems!

The tour also includes a visit to local stone carvers and to the “Yeille” (the old lady) who weaves krama scarves under her traditional wooden house. Here, you’ll have the chance to try your hand at weaving on her beautiful loom and perhaps pick up a few handcrafted souvenirs with a meaningful backstory to share. The journey concludes with a stop at the Boat Pagoda.

Grand Rice Field Tour (5 hours)

The grand rice field tour, lasting around five hours, takes you deep into the Cambodian countryside—well beyond the reach of typical tourist routes. Traveling along red dirt tracks through remote villages, you’ll arrive at ancient temples that are over 1,400 years old and completely unknown to mass tourism.

The local population, mainly farmers, express a level of authenticity rarely encountered by visitors to Cambodia. Children will greet you along the way with their enthusiastic and drawn-out: “Helllooooooo!!!”
