In search of the Lost Artifact

Mar 05 2025

Urban Tales, a new tourist activity recently launched in Cambodia, invites you to step into the shoes of adventurers to uncover the mysteries discovered by Anatole Pasquier, the late French explorer. Immerse yourself in 1882 and solve an initiation puzzle while discovering the Cambodian capital.

Phnom Penh is filled with secrets and historical mysteries waiting to be uncovered. French nationals who came to settle in the kingdom with the establishment of the protectorate, passionate and curious to tread lands that were then unknown to them, explored Cambodia in search of history, legends… These adventures were sometimes left unresolved. This is the case with Anatole Pasquier's. Your objective? To solve these abandoned enigmas.

In the footsteps of explorers

The adventure begins in the grand national library of Phnom Penh, the guardian of authentic archives that will immerse you in the city's history. Leang Mey will be your guide and lay the groundwork for an investigation into the search for the pieces of a lost artifact. Researchers from the Department of Archaeology at the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh were able to find one of them. It's up to you to help them piece together the relic! Period letters, keys, chests, and many other discoveries will lead you to the Holy Grail. Anatole Pasquier kept a travel journal and notes, clues. You will have the opportunity to read and study them to understand his journey. You will be provided with a real explorer's kit, including a compass, a map of Phnom Penh under the protectorate, and manuscripts that will be handed to you throughout the investigation.

Fabulous characters, played by local actors, will accompany you throughout your journey. They will either assist you or, on the contrary, try to hinder your progress. "We have prepared a long list of actors to cover any last-minute eventuality," assures Leang Mey. "They have all been trained on-site to ensure the authenticity of the story.

The adventure, as immersive as possible, leaves a great deal of room for imagination. Your creation. Question anyone you like to achieve your goal. Escape, trickery, discussions… Adopt the right behavior in each situation, but most importantly, improvise. Phnom Penh's archaeology needs you to solve this mystery. Will you be up to the challenge?
