New record for passenger traffic at Cambodian airports

Mar 05 2025

With 10 million visitors in 2018, Cambodia's three airports – Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville – set a new record for passenger traffic in 2018, surpassing the previous record from 2017 (8.8 million), according to Éric Delobel, CEO of Cambodia Airports. For comparison, this traffic is exactly the same as that recorded in 2017 at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, but remains far behind the total number of passengers in France, which was close to 200 million that same year. However, it represents a significant increase compared to last year in Cambodia. "The objectives have been met," Éric Delobel assured the local press.

Future developments

The businessman, however, wanted to temper the excitement surrounding this record and promised to work with the Ministry of Tourism on opening new destinations. "We aim to establish direct flights to Australia, India, and Russia," he stated. Cambodia is currently connected to around 60 destinations in Asia, including China, South Korea, and Japan, as well as connections to major hubs such as Qatar and Dubai.
