You can explore the beautiful rice fields and other plantations of the Steung Trong village, located nearby, or discover the tobacco fields of Kampong Cham.

Then continue your journey to the city of Kratié, renowned for its peaceful charm and its villages set along the Mekong, including floating villages and weaver villages. The city center is also worth exploring and can be easily discovered on foot.

Day 4: Encounter with Mekong dolphins & stopover in Kampong Thom

For this fourth day, we propose that you live an unforgettable experience as a couple: the encounter with Irrawaddy dolphins. These freshwater dolphins, nicknamed Mekong dolphins, are among the emblematic animals of Cambodia. To do so, head to Kampi, from where most boat excursions depart.

After experiencing a magical moment with the dolphins, you can continue your getaway in Kampong Thom province. On the agenda: visit to the pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk, an archaeological site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. To get off the beaten path, you can end with a tour of the Kampong Thom countryside by scooter during which you can admire magnificent rural landscapes and meet local farmers. Again, it's an authentic Cambodia that unfolds before you.

Day 5: Exploration of Preah Vihear Temple

Your honeymoon can continue at one of the country's best-kept treasures: Preah Vihear Temple. This masterpiece of Khmer architecture, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is among the forgotten temples of Cambodia. Why? Located on the border with Thailand, the site was long excluded from tourism due to political tensions between the two countries. Day 6: On the road to Siem Reap with discovery of Koh Ker and Beng Mealea on the way

Before heading to Siem Reap to discover what has made the country world-famous (the temples of Angkor), we suggest making a few stops along the way. You can notably stop at Koh Ker, which was the capital of the Angkorian Empire in the 10th century, and visit the Ker Pyramid and the Prasat Thom temple.

Along the way, you can also make a stop at the Beng Mealea temple. Hidden deep in an encroaching and isolated jungle, it is one of the most mysterious temples of the ancient city of Angkor. An opportunity to play adventurers as a couple.

Day 7: Visit to the majestic temples of Angkor

You have now reached one of the most anticipated stages of any Cambodia trip: a visit to the temples of Angkor. To make the most of your time and see as much as possible, we recommend booking a full day tour by tuk-tuk.

Among the iconic temples of Angkor that you absolutely must see are:

• Angkor Wat : symbol of the pinnacle of the Khmer Empire during the Angkorian era, it is the largest temple on the site, as well as the most important and most visited;

• Ta Prohm : with its centuries-old trees whose roots intertwine with the stone, it is one of the most mythical temples of Angkor;

• Bayon : a mountain temple famous for its many towers with 216 sculpted Buddha heads;

• Baphûon : a mountain temple known for its impressive reclining Buddha statue;

• Phimeanakas : a three-tiered square pyramid representing Mount Meru, the sacred mountain of Hindu mythology;

• The Terrace of the Elephants : this site known for its elephant sculptures was once a royal reviewing stand;

Day 8: Discovery of hidden treasures of Angkor

To continue exploring Angkor's archaeological sites while getting away from the crowds, you can pursue your expedition by venturing away from the main temples to discover hidden gems where fewer visitors are found.

Begin with a visit to the Kbal Spean site, famous for being the temple of the 1,000 lingas of Angkor. Used as a Hindu place of worship in the 11th century, you will find temple ruins along a river whose bed is scattered with carved lingas, phallic symbols representing Shiva.

You can then visit Banteay Srei, a pink sandstone temple also known as "the Citadel of Women." Its decorations, notably bas-reliefs and sculptures, are among the most beautiful carvings of the Angkor temples.

You can also plan a visit to the Angkor Center for Biodiversity Protection, an NGO dedicated to conservation of nature and protection of endangered animals.

Day 9: Peaceful stop at the floating villages of Kampong Khleang

After exploring the Angkor temple sites, you can continue your romantic road trip to Tonlé Sap Lake. Considered the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and designated as a biosphere reserve, it is known for its many floating villages.

Among the floating villages on Tonlé Sap Lake, you can mention:

Cambodia has a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year. There are two main seasons in the country:

• The dry season which runs from November to April with temperatures ranging between 25 and 30 °C ;
