The spirit of travel
The boat rocks gently on the brown waters of the Mekong at Kratié, where the last Irrawaddy dolphins pierce the surface in a silent ballet. From Phnom Penh to the beaches of Koh Rong, this journey blends ancient heritage and tropical relaxation while crossing the deep countryside of the Khmer kingdom.
Sambor Prei Kuk reveals its pre-Angkorian sanctuaries overgrown with vegetation, before Angkor Wat unfolds its lotus towers beneath the morning mist. At Ta Prohm, giant fig trees embrace the carved stones with their tentacular roots. Further south, Kampot's black pepper plantations perfume the tropical air, while the floating villages of Kampong Kleang sway to the rhythm of the tides.
This route traces the history of the Khmers, from the forgotten capitals of the 7th century to the Angkor empire that dominated Southeast Asia. Each stage bears the traces of builder kings, fishing communities and agricultural traditions that still shape Cambodia today. A journey where pink sandstone temples are reflected in peaceful waters before giving way to the white sand of the archipelago.

Phnom Penh, vibrant capital
Day tour by tuk-tuk
Let's discover the famous Wat Phnom which gave its name to the capital. The "pagoda of the hill" is the highest point in Phnom Penh.
We then visit the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, true jewels of Khmer architecture built in the mid-19th century.
The dress code for the Royal Palace is quite strict: shoulders and knees must be covered.
We then visit the National Museum and discover one of the most important collections of Khmer art: 14,000 sculptures and ethnographic objects, mostly from Angkor temples. This jewel of Khmer architecture was built between 1917 and 1920, and features a magnificent interior courtyard, a true lush garden surrounded by the museum's unique pieces.
Visit of the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), a former secondary school in Phnom Penh that the Khmer Rouge transformed into an interrogation, torture and death center. It is the largest detention and torture center under Pol Pot's regime that will reveal to us a very painful chapter in Cambodia's history.
Today converted into a museum, the former S21 Prison reminds every visitor of the atrocities committed in Cambodia during the terrible years of communist dictatorship. No fewer than 17,000 people were prisoners at Tuol Sleng prison, and only 7 survived and can today recount the abuses they suffered. The visit to S21 can be a disturbing and harrowing experience that some may not be able to endure. Nevertheless, it is one of the keys to understanding the hell and madness in which Cambodia locked itself during these years of terror.
Day with an English-speaking guide.

Kampong Cham and Kratié on the Mekong riverbank
In the morning, we head towards Kampong Cham. In Kampong Cham, we leave the city to go to Steung Trong village and explore the beautiful rice fields and other plantations (peanuts, jicama and yam beans) in this very fertile riverside area. Further on, a different landscape unfolds in Krouch Chhmar district. We set out to meet the villagers on a small 30-minute walk through tobacco crops. A discovery of authentic rural Cambodge.
We then continue our journey to Kratié, a city-province on the banks of the great Mekong with a peaceful reputation and magnificent rural landscapes.
Once we arrive at our destination, we settle into our room for this one-night stopover and can enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to stretch our legs on the promenade along the great Mekong.
Let's continue with a short transfer to Kampi, a few nautical miles north of Kratié. We board the Mekong to search for Irrawaddy dolphins, one of the rare freshwater dolphin species, on the verge of extinction.
Optional: if you're sporty by nature, you can observe the dolphins by kayak (contact us)
From Kampi
After returning to solid ground, if time permits, we visit nearby Phnom Sambok hill which hosts a picturesque pagoda and a religious community where monks live separate from nuns. We then return to Kratié to reach our accommodation.
Day spent with an English-speaking guide.

Stopover in Kampong Thom
This morning, before getting back on the road, we take a small boat to reach the river island of Koh Trong.
We discover this small island on foot or by bike. The river island is a condensed version of magnificent landscapes and a guarantee of escape from the everyday. Let's discover the Khmer village and the inhabitants of a timeless island.
We then continue on our way, this time heading towards Kampong Thom province.
We then head to visit Phnom Santuk mountain, the sacred mountain brings together pagodas and large reclining Buddhas; the oldest ones were carved into the rock over time and other more recent ones are simply made of cement. You must climb more than 800 steps through the forest to reach the summit of this popular pilgrimage site in the region. We will probably be accompanied by bands of monkeys. From up there, you can enjoy the view of the vast plains and surrounding countryside.
We settle in Steung Sen the capital of Kampong Thom province crossed by a river of the same name. Here, with a touch of irony, the inhabitants like to recall that they too have their "Seine".
Day spent with an English-speaking guide.

Sambor Pre kuk and arrival in Siem Reap
After breakfast, we head out to reach Siem Reap.
Kampong Thom → Sambor Prei Kuk
At the edge of Kampong Thom, let's discover the remarkable pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk. This archaeological site has been inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list since July 2017 and owes this to its status as the former capital before the advent of the Khmer empire which would settle in Angkor a few centuries later. A pivotal site at the crossroads of Buddhist, Hindu, animist and even Persian and Greek cultures from the 7th century AD, as we will be able to discover.
We continue with a village tour by scooter (as passenger) lasting approximately 1 hour to discover the countryside of Kampong Thom and its magnificent rural landscapes while meeting farmers, their animals and the smiles of children. The path is lined with small wooden houses with roofs made of straw or palm leaves. These traditional houses in typical Khmer style are bordered by waterways. Let's especially take advantage of the superb sunset over the rice fields.
Excursion accompanied by an English-speaking motorbike guide/driver from the Sambor Prei Kuk community
A 60 km from Siem reap, stop in the village of Kampong Kdei to admire the superb Preah Tos bridge. Bordered by Naga sculptures, this 100 m long structure dating back 1000 years is still used by pedestrians and motorcycles. Once you arrive at your destination, we settle into the hotel; The rest of the day is free at your convenience.
In the evening, we attend an unforgettable circus show with incredibly talented artists!
The circus show starts at 8 p.m. but it is recommended to arrive 20-30 minutes early. A few activities/shops are also available from 6 p.m., including a small traditional Khmer dance performance.
Seat included category B

The Majestic Temples of Angkor
Full day visit by tuk tuk of the wonderful Angkor temples located around and inside the Angkor Thom enclosure. We discover in particular Angkor Wat, symbol of the apex of the Khmer Empire during the Angkorian era.
Within the Angkor Thom enclosure, discover Bayon and its many towers with gigantic faces, Baphuon and its gigantic 40m reclining Buddha statue, Phimeanakas, the Terrace of Elephants and its great diversity of sculptures as well as the Terrace of the Leper King.
Let's conclude with Ta Prohm famous for its immense trees with tentacular aerial roots. We can end this day with a sunset either at Srah Srang, or from the heights of Pre Rup or Phnom Bakheng if you are ready to brave the crowds (warning: Phnom Bakheng is off-limits to children under 12 years old and authorities limit access to 300 people at sunset, creating a queue)
Due to an already busy schedule, we intentionally skip a few secondary temples on the small circuit such as Banteay Kdei, Thommanon, Chau Say Tevoda or Ta Keo. If you wish to visit these sites, do not hesitate to inform your guide at the beginning of the day so he can best arrange the schedule.
Possibility to do the visits in reverse order to avoid crowds. You just need to tell your guide at the beginning of the day.
The temples are sacred places, avoid short clothing, you must cover your shoulders and wear long pants or a long skirt.
In order to preserve these fragile monuments, it is forbidden to touch the sculptures or to sit on temple elements.
In Cambodian culture, it is offensive to misbehave inside a sacred place, calm and respect are the key words.
It is not recommended to buy items or sweets from child vendors, this only encourages begging and truancy, prefer a donation to an association if it is close to your heart.
If you wish to photograph the monks (called Bonzes), you must obtain their permission beforehand. Moreover, you must not touch them, they have the right to touch you but not the other way around.
Day with an English-speaking guide.

The river of 1000 lingas and the pink sandstone citadel
After approximately 45 minutes of driving, we begin the day with a visit to the Angkor Centre for Biodiversity Protection. We will be able to witness the efforts made by local and international teams to protect threatened local species: tortoises and other reptiles, birds and rare mammals. Children and animal lovers will be delighted by this discovery and awareness visit.
We then begin the short hiking trail needed to reach the site of Kbal Spean nicknamed "the temple under the water", 49 km north of Angkor. Temple ruins dating from the 9th century line a river whose bed is scattered with sculpted lingas. A life-giving source for Angkor, the waters of Kbal Spean once irrigated the rice fields of the ancient city. In its bed, the Khmers carved Shiva figures and stone squares designed to bless the waters before they reached the Royal City. The site was discovered in 1968 by ethnologist Jean Boulbet from Ariège, and following in his footsteps you can wander along the lush banks. A small waterfall near the protected sacred site will allow us to cool off or even swim there (bring a small towel).
Very accessible hiking trail of approximately 1.5 km (or 3 km round trip) with a slight elevation gain over the last 700 meters.
Plan to wear hiking shoes or sneakers as the trail is quite rocky.
After lunch, continue with a visit to Banteay Srey, a temple on a human scale compared to the gigantic Angkor Wat or Bayon. This pink sandstone temple nicknamed "The Citadel of Women" is known for the refinement of the bas-reliefs and sculptures that adorn its walls and columns.
If we have energy left, we can end the day by visiting Banteay Samre temple or return to the hotel directly.
Day with an English-speaking guide.

Kampong Kleang Floating Village & Phnom Penh Stopover
In the morning, return by road to Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodge.
We first head towards the village of Kampong Kleang located on Tonlé Sap Lake, about 1 hour 30 minutes by car from Siem Reap. We board a private boat there to discover and visit the floating village.
On the way after getting back on the road, be bold to make the most of a brief "gastronomic" stop in the city of Skun, famous for its spiders and grilled insects. Once you arrive at your destination, we settle into the hotel; The rest of the day is free at your convenience.
Day accompanied by an English-speaking guide (Finished after the Kampong Kleang visit)

Kampot and its world-renowned pepper
After breakfast, we head towards Kampot.
The Kampot region is internationally recognized for its exceptional pepper. It is therefore impossible to visit Kampot without taking a tour of one of the many pepper plantations in the region!
We visit the family-run pepper production farm, Sothy's Farm with a plantation guide who will explain to us the origin and reason for the fame of this spice. We will learn more about cultivation methods and how to cook this famous pepper.
Once you arrive at your destination, we settle you in at the hotel; the rest of the day is free for you to enjoy as you wish.

Kep Archipelago
After breakfast, we take the road to the nearby town of Kep where we board for a full-day eco-tour around the islands of Kep Bay.
Aboard a traditional Khmer fishing boat, we will navigate through the Kep archipelago, following the waves and currents, away from any other tourist circuit.
Armed with snorkels and masks, let's discover the seabeds and reefs of the Kep archipelago where numerous species of colorful fish, sea urchins, starfish and corals thrive.
Let's relax in the warm and swimming-friendly waters of Snake Island Bay for a barbecue of fish and seafood on the boat. We then visit a traditional fishing village where we can soak in the atmosphere and observe the preparation of nets, crab traps and bait while enjoying an iced coffee. Finally, we set off to explore a charming little lost and atypical islet.
We may have the rare chance to observe Irrawaddy dolphins in this area… Keep your eyes open!
The boat tour is private and begins around 9am with a return around 4pm.
