Kampot's Festival of the Sea!
In Kampot, the Festival of the Sea aims to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors around local specialties, artisans, Khmer gastronomy and coastal provinces.
The 8th edition of the Festival of the Sea in Cambodge will take place in Kampot from December 20-22. A year after the edition in Koh Kong province, which attracted 200,000 local and international tourists, the Ministry of Tourism hopes to exceed half a million visitors this year by introducing new local, entertainment, and gastronomic activities.
Organized annually since 2011 on a rotating basis in each of Cambodge's coastal provinces—Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kep and Kampot—the Festival of the Sea is dedicated to promoting local craftsmanship and products. The goal is to attract both travelers and investors who wish to work on developing these coastal regions.
Pepper, durian, and culinary streets

Local businesses and artisans will be present in force during the weekend of Friday, December 20 through Sunday, December 22 to showcase their products. Kampot province is particularly renowned for its celebrated pepper, as well as its salt and durian. A golden opportunity for all these producers to highlight their wares.
The government will also invest in a new concept for the kingdom, the "Food Street". Taking inspiration from the famous "street food" establishments, small roadside restaurants, the Ministry of Tourism is thinking bigger and wants to use the organization of such an event in Kampot to create an entire esplanade dedicated to Khmer cuisine. It aims to delight the 500,000 expected visitors by offering countless quality local dishes and above all hygienic options! "We are preparing the Food Street for Kampot's Festival of the Sea. It must be magnificent to satisfy the hundreds of thousands of travelers who will be present", declared Tourism Minister Thong Khon on the ministry's Facebook page.
This program should further stimulate tourism in the Kampot region, which experienced, from January to June, compared to last year, a 4.5% increase in visitor numbers, bringing it to 470,000. The city is considered a potential sector model in the country and capable, through its historical affinity for gastronomic flavors, of offering visitors delicious dishes.
