The Elephant Valley Project (EVP) team works daily to save elephants and forests in Mondulkiri. These are increasingly threatened by deforestation that destroys the natural habitat of elephants and wildlife in general, and also forces many ethnic minorities to relocate and find forested areas to preserve the resources they depend on.

Rejecting Artifice

Numerous companies and organizations offer visitors the chance to meet elephants, pet them, and unfortunately sometimes ride on their backs… The Elephant Valley Project advocates against creating artificial attractions around these animals. Not making them play ball, paint with their trunks, follow courses, and so on. All of this merely serves to satisfy the misguided desires of certain tourists. The animals derive no pleasure from such activities. The EVP team instead offers simply to walk alongside the pachyderms, accompanied by a guide, to understand their way of life, their needs, and the current dangers threatening Mondulkiri's forests.

The organization currently protects 300,000 hectares of forest in Mondulkiri, with 1,500 allocated to its 10 elephants. More than 2,000 residents of the region benefit from EVP's actions, and they await your arrival to witness this vital work for the development of the province.
