The peaceful town of Kratié moves to the rhythm of the Mekong. It's hard to pass through without appreciating the splendid panoramas and sunsets with this river as your backdrop. The Mekong is also ideal terrain for anyone wishing to spend a half-day engaged in sport and leisure. So set out to conquer the river aboard your kayak and discover the diverse landscapes of the surrounding area at the pace of your paddle!

Two tours are offered depending on the season.

November to June

Once you arrive at the departure point, located about a good half-hour from Kratié, your English-speaking guide and his colleagues will prepare the equipment and give you safety instructions. You'll then begin paddling towards the opposite bank where the river begins to form a sinuous curve comprising hundreds of islets.

You'll then descend with the current through these sandy islands, making several stops at lovely little river beaches where you can swim and enjoy the light snacks provided to regain your strength. A second part of the tour will take you through a submerged forest before you exit the nascent meander and return to the "main" Mekong.

It's at this point, at Kampi, that the rare Irrawaddy dolphins have made their home, or at least can be easily observed. With a bit of luck, you'll be able to admire a few as they surface to breathe or simply to greet you.

July to October

The tour departs from the same location as the previous one. You'll paddle through wooded areas and submerged forests. You'll also pass near agricultural land and local villages.

Depending on the water level, there may be two passages with strong currents. Don't worry—your guide will help you navigate them smoothly! A wide variety of birds and butterflies can be observed during your descent of the river. You'll also discover a river village in full activity for a unique, peaceful, and relaxing experience of rural Cambodia.
