The spirit of travel
On the banks of the Mekong in Phnom Penh, the horns of tuk-tuks mingle with the morning chants of monks in golden pagodas. This self-guided circuit traces a loop through the central provinces of Cambodge, from the bustling capital to the sprawling rice fields of Battambang. Between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Kampong Thom reveals the pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk, witnesses to the Chenla empire of the 7th century, while the stilt houses of Kampong Kleang sway with the rhythm of the great Tonlé Sap lake's floods.
Three free days in Siem Reap allow you to explore the sanctuaries of Angkor Wat and the Bayon, remnants of the Khmer empire that dominated Southeast Asia for six centuries. The bas-reliefs tell the epic of King Jayavarman VII and the Hindu legends carved into pink sandstone. In Battambang, French colonial architecture stands alongside Buddhist pagodas, in a province renowned for its silk workshops and its famous bamboo train.
This journey in "seripheap" mode leaves travelers free to compose their days between cultural discoveries and encounters with Khmer rural communities.

Day-by-day itinerary

Welcome to Phnom Penh
Day without English-speaking guide

Phnom Penh, at your own pace
Free day with tuk-tuk at your disposal for a visit to Phnom Penh. Note: Valid only for visits within the city. For any visit outside the city, a supplement will be requested by your driver.
Day trip in tuk-tuk

Stopover in Kampong Thom
On the road, at the crossroads of national highways N6 and N7, be bold to make the most of a brief "gastronomic" stop in the town of Skun, famous for its spiders and grilled insects.
We then go to visit the mountain of Phnom Santuk, the sacred mountain brings together pagodas and large reclining Buddhas; the oldest have been carved into the rock over time and others more recent are simply in cement. You have to climb more than 800 steps in the middle of the forest to reach the top of this popular pilgrimage site in the region (motorcycle taxi available as an alternative). We will probably be accompanied by troops of monkeys. From up there, you can enjoy the view of the vast plains and surrounding countryside.
Phnom Santuk → Sambor Prei Kuk
Along the way, at the edge of Kampong Thom, let's discover the magnificent pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk. This archaeological site has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since July 2017 and owes this status to its position as an ancient capital before the advent of the Khmer empire, which would settle in Angkor a few centuries later, at the crossroads of Buddhist, Hindu, animistic and even Persian and Greek cultures from the 7th century AD onwards, as we will be able to discover. Visit in the company of an English-speaking guide residing on site.
Sambor Prei Kuk → Kampong Thom
Transfer finally to the city and check-in at the hotel.

Kampong Kleang Floating Village on the Tonlé Sap
Kampong Thom → Kampong Khleang
In the morning, transfer by road to Siem Reap, an essential stop during your stay in Cambodge. The city-province is home to the extraordinary Angkor temples and the immense Tonlé Sap lake. Along the way, we take a detour towards the village of Kampong Kleang located on the Tonlé Sap lake, approximately 1.5 hours by car from Siem Reap.
Once you arrive at your destination, we settle you in at the hotel; the rest of the day is free. Day without an English-speaking guide

On the way to Battambang

Free day in Battambang

Departure to Phnom Penh
Return by car to Phnom Penh. Take the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping, dine at one of the many Khmer or international restaurants (feel free to ask us for our recommendations!) or visit the establishments you didn't have time to see upon arrival.
About ten kilometers from Kampong Chhnang, admire the craftsmanship of potter artisans. The traditional village has been renowned for centuries for the quality of its clay pots sold throughout the country. While the tools have certainly become more modern, the know-how and techniques passed down from generation to generation remain.

End of stay and safe travels!
Phnom Penh → Phnom Penh Airport
Free programme before our transfer to Phnom Penh International Airport.
We will need to check out of our room before noon. If our flight is in the evening, we can leave our luggage at the hotel reception for a last stroll around the city.
