A bit of history

Founded in 1998 as a semi-public social enterprise to help young people find work close to their villages, Artisans d'Angkor is now fully autonomous and continues its educational initiatives through its own training program in craftsmanship. Since its inception, the company has been committed to a social policy ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, medical coverage, and numerous other benefits for its employees. Today, it operates 48 workshops across the Siem Reap province and employs over 1,100 people, including more than 800 artisans.

Visiting Artisans d'Angkor

Artisans d'Angkor offers free multilingual guides to visitors, which is a wonderful opportunity you won’t want to miss. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your friendly guide who will provide information throughout your visit. Your guide will begin by sharing the origins and evolution of Artisans d'Angkor, before leading you on a comprehensive journey through traditional Khmer craftsmanship, from raw materials to the splendid finished products. As you move from one workshop to another, you’ll have the chance to admire the mastery of various techniques such as stone and wood carving, lacquer, silverwork, ceramics, and silk painting. Feel free to observe and photograph the artisans’ meticulous work. This enlightening tour concludes in the large showroom boutique, where you can explore the diverse range of handcrafted items created by passionate men and women.

Be prepared to make a few purchases, as Artisans d'Angkor not only revives traditional Khmer arts and crafts but also offers a collection of silk fabrics and garments, contemporary furniture, and a wide range of high-quality decorative items, accessories, and jewelry that will be hard to resist.

Opening Hours

Artisans d'Angkor is open daily from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The visit is free of charge. The boutique closes at 6 :30 PM.

How to get there

From the Old Market and Pub Street, it takes just a 3-minute walk to reach Artisans d'Angkor, located on Stung Thmey Street (perpendicular to Sivatha Street, in front of the Terrace of Elephants Hotel). If you prefer not to walk, you can take a tuk-tuk.
